Who this policy covers
This Privacy Policy explains how Veila (“Veila,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles personal information when you use our website, accounts, Tarot readings, Four Pillars (Bazi) charts and reports, voice features, digital purchases, waitlists, support, and related services (together, the “Service”).
Veila is the service name. The legal seller for a paid transaction will be identified on the payment screen and receipt. If a feature links to a separate notice at the moment information is collected, that notice also applies to that feature.
Information we collect
Account and profile information
When you create or use an account, we may receive your name, email address, profile image, account identifier, authentication status, and related account details from our identity provider.
Birth and chart information
To calculate a Four Pillars chart, you may provide a birth date, birth time, birthplace, time zone, a sex marker used for the traditional calculation, and related location details. A birth time can be optional for some experiences, but omitting it may limit the reading. We also store calculated chart facts, timing cycles, generated reports, chat messages about a chart, and report files associated with your account.
Reading and reflective content
We process the questions, context, card selections, interpretations, follow-up questions, reflection notes, saved readings, and sharing choices you provide or create. Your questions may contain personal or sensitive details. Please share only information you are comfortable providing and have the right to provide, including information about another person.
Voice information
If you choose a voice feature, recording begins only after you allow microphone access. Audio remains on your device until you choose to transcribe it. We then process the audio recording, technical file details, transcription, and any edits you make to that transcript. Using voice is optional.
Commerce and support information
We may process your cart, product preferences, object waitlist status, credit balance and ledger, purchases, subscriptions if offered, refunds, disputes, and support messages. Stripe processes payment-card details. Veila receives transaction identifiers and payment status, but does not store your full card number or card security code.
Technical information
Our infrastructure and security providers may process IP address, browser or device type, request timing, cookie and session identifiers, error details, and similar operational information needed to authenticate users, keep the Service reliable, prevent abuse, and investigate incidents.
How we use information
We use personal information to:
- create and secure your account;
- calculate charts and generate the Tarot, Bazi, voice, chat, report, and PDF experiences you request;
- save your history, preferences, notes, sharing choices, credits, and transaction records;
- process payments, refunds, disputes, subscription management, and object waitlist registration;
- respond to support, privacy, and security requests;
- detect fraud, abuse, technical failures, and violations of our Terms;
- maintain, test, troubleshoot, and improve Service quality; and
- comply with law, enforce agreements, and protect users, Veila, and others.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on performance of our agreement with you, our legitimate interests in operating and protecting the Service, compliance with legal obligations, and consent where we ask for it.
AI and service providers
Veila uses automated systems, including services provided by OpenAI, to transcribe optional voice recordings and generate requested interpretations, reports, and chat responses. We send the information needed for the requested feature, which may include a question, reading context, derived birth-chart facts, or audio. Private Tarot reflection notes are stored separately and are not sent to the AI provider.
AI output is generated by software, not a human advisor. Authorized personnel may access limited information when reasonably necessary for support, fraud prevention, incident response, legal compliance, or quality investigation. We do not sell private reading content.
We also use service providers such as Clerk for identity, Stripe for payments, AWS for databases, queues and private file storage, Vercel for web delivery, and OpenAI for AI features. These providers process information for us under their own terms and our applicable agreements. We may replace or add providers as the Service evolves and will update this policy when a change materially affects your information.
Retention and deletion
We retain account, chart, reading, report, note, transcript, preference, and credit information while it is needed to provide the Service or until it is deleted, subject to security, backup, dispute, and legal-record requirements.
Raw voice files enter the deletion workflow 30 days after a successful transcription. Failed or abandoned uploads use a 24-hour retention window. Deletion is asynchronous, and protected backup or storage versions may persist temporarily after the active file is removed. A transcript may remain with its reading until you delete the recording, reading, or account.
Deleting a reading starts a background cleanup of related jobs, notes, follow-ups, shares, and voice files. Deleting an account starts deletion of account-scoped records and private files. Limited transaction, fraud-prevention, tax, dispute, security, or backup records may remain for the period required by law or reasonably necessary to protect the Service.
Your choices and rights
You can choose not to provide optional context or voice recordings, edit certain profile or transcript details, revoke Tarot share links, and delete supported readings or recordings from the Service.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, obtain a copy of, restrict, or object to processing of personal information, or to withdraw consent. You may also have the right to appeal a decision or complain to a data-protection authority. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
To make a privacy request, visit Support. Deleting an account is different from canceling an active subscription; if subscriptions are offered, cancel billing first through the method shown in your account.
Age, changes, and contact
The Service is not directed to children or to anyone who cannot lawfully consent to use it in their location. We do not knowingly collect a child’s personal information where prohibited by law. If you believe a child provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
We may update this policy as the Service, our providers, or applicable law changes. We will post the revised policy and update its effective date. When required, we will provide additional notice before a material change takes effect.
Questions and requests can be submitted through Veila Support.
